GRAD AND UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA LAW SCHOOL
PRODUCT NAMED INTERIM DEAN OF MILES LAW
SCHOOL
The
Honorable U. W. Clemon, Academic Proctor
of the MIles Law School Board of Trustees,
announced the recent interim appointment
of local Attorney J. Richet Pearson to Deanship
of the School of Law.
Clemon,
the Chief Judge of the United States District
Court for the Northern District of Alabama,
uttered high praise for the new Interim
Dean. "I have known Attorney Pearson
all of her life. She demonstrated a superb
grasp of the law and exceptional management
skills during the period she served as law
clerk in my office."
Clemon
went on to point out that the new appointee
brings to her recent assignment over a decade
and a half of varied and distinguished service
on both the civil and criminal side of the
practice of law. Her resume is, Judge Clemon
pointed out, "replete with evidence
of her constructive, widespread involvement
in community service in the city."
After
completing grade school in the Birmingham
School System, Attorney Pearson received
her high school diploma at Altamont School,
later graduating from Princeton University
in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1981. She enrolled
in the University of Alabama Law School
graduating in 1984. She passed the Alabama
Bar in September of that year.
Pearson
is a member of the Thirgood Christian Methodist
Episcopal Church, its Board of Trustees,
and a Board Member of the Directors of the
C.M.E. Church Foundation. The new Dean also
serves as counsel to the Miles College Board
of Trustees and to the 5th Episcopal District
of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
"I
am grateful for the opportunity to assume
this mammoth challenge," the new appointee
said. "I welcome fully the opportunity
to be directly involved in shaping new legal
minds. I shal make the most of this unique
chance to serve well," Pearson stated.
Interim
Dean Pearson asserted further that she will
continue her private practice of law in
the courts of this state and nation.
