My experience attending Miles Law School has been very unique and enjoyable. I did not have the pleasure of attending a historical Black college (HBCU) for my undergraduate degree, so I really didn't know what to expect. While trying to make the decision on whether to apply to Miles Law School, there were several different factors that I had to consider: the cost, the convenience, and the quality of education I would receive. Miles Law School has met every factor completely. The cost of the program is reasonable, and it is truly a relief to know that when you have completed your degree, you don't owe anyone. All that you make after passing the Alabama bar and beginning your professional career as an attorney is yours- no loans to pay back. Miles Law School also offers convenient night courses for those with full-time employment. At first I thought that it might be a little over whelming having classes 4 nights a week, but it has proven to be something that can be accomplished. The ability for me to take night classes has been a blessing; without that opportunity I really don't know how I would have been able to attend law school. Last, but not the least, the programs offers an exceptional quality of education, the professors are all very knowledgeable of their respective areas and are willing to assist you in any way possible. I really like the fact they are all practicing attorneys; they don't teach from theory, they are able to bring their real life experiences to class and apply it to what they are teaching. Not only are the professors knowledgeable, they really care about the students. They want to see each of us succeed. They are caring and encouraging ,and they share a lot of their own personal stories of how they were able to succeed. Upon completion of my degree, I plan to give back to Miles Law School as an active alumnus. Miles Law School is more than just a law school- the people there become your family. You are not just another number- there you are a valued member of the school and the opportunities given are limitless. Tia D. Turner
Being a student at Miles Law School is a wonderful opportunity and privilege. I have been able to work and get practical real-world experience while obtaining a top-notch legal education. Miles Law School is giving me the ability to sit for the bar and make my dream of vigorously advocating for those without a voice a reality. My goal is to be like those that came before me at Miles Law School and make a positive impact on the legal profession.
The study of law changes one's outlook on life and equips them to become better informed, effective and productive citizens of the legal society. It enlightens you to know that there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor popular, but because it is right. From my first night in class at Miles Law School, in August 2006, I knew that I followed God's direction for my life. I had always desired to be an advocate for individuals unable to speak for themselves and what better avenue than to become an attorney. Graduating from this prestigious, historical institution of advanced learning and passing the Alabama State bar exam will afford me that opportunity. Miles Law School has provided me with excellent training for entering into the legal system to help render justice and argue matters of dispute. For the opportunities enhanced by law school, I am forever grateful; for the increase of my self confidence and belief in myself, I am forever humbled; for the overall blessing God has granted me, I am forever thankful. I am proud to say that I am a member of the honorable Miles Law School family. Yolanda L. Hunter
Miles Law school, unlike other law schools is affordable. I am a second-generation law student at Miles. The drive to achieve is demanded in my household. Studying law at Miles is a family tradition dating back to 1974. Although I'm obtaining a juris doctorate, Miles has allowed me to have the opportunity to also work and provide for my daughter. Knowledge is sunlight to the world and without sunlight there is no vision. Miles Law School is the avenue I have chosen to let my light shine. Unlike other law schools, the professors at Miles are attorneys in the active practice of law. Because of that, the information they are offering provides a clear vision and desire to reach my goals. I plan on reaching my goals by applying three "P"s, prepared, participate and performance. As a 1st year law student at Miles, being prepared for class allows me to ultimately increase my performance on exams. I recommend Miles Law School to anyone who chooses to study law. I chose to move from Florida to attend Miles Law School for multiple reasons. Leaving my loved ones, though difficult, allows me to stay focused on why I'm here and it also keeps me encouraged to know that I have many people counting on me. Another reason I chose Miles Law School is to have the opportunity to receive a degree paid in full on graduation day. Perhaps the most important reason I chose Miles was the fact that the professors are practicing attorneys. Now that I'm here, I'm glad I chose here, because my experiences thus far have been priceless. Juli McShay
Miles Law School has been a life line to me! My law school experience has given me the answers I needed when I sought to find the most difficult solutions to the unanswerable. Originally from Miami, Florida, I came here from Tallahassee, Florida, a recent widow and newly retired public school administrator. Our school with its dedicated administration, faculty and student body has aided in my healing. Thankfully, the study of law has enabled me to have a complete paradigm shift which gives me a totally new awareness of where I'd like to go in my next phase of this life. Judith C. Hatton-Hemmingway
I have seen many changes working in the manufacturing industry the past two decades. These changes have brought me to the conclusion that I needed to take control of my future. As I researched the different law schools around Birmingham, Alabama, I decided that Miles Law School will be the path that leads me to success. Miles Law School is conveniently located, offering evening curriculum, and is approved by the Alabama State Bar. As a first year student, I have found the professors to be professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about the subjects they teach. These qualities make Miles Law School my school of choice in pursuing a juris doctor degree. Ronald Cooper

I have always wanted to attend law school; however, making the decision to actually attend has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. Deciding to study law at Miles Law School was a very personal one that I have yet to regret. Miles Law School not only is affordable, but the evening classes offer me an opportunity to achieve my goal of pursuing my law degree and keep my day job in order to provide for my family. The road thus far has not always been easy, but I know that it will be well worth the time that I have invested over the last two years. Tomonica Stoudemire
Miles Law School has provided me the opportunity to pursue the career that I have always wanted. Having a family, I knew that I could not quit my job and attend a day law school program. The evening program that Miles Law School offers allowed me to work in the day and go to school in the evening. This was the only way I would be able to achieve a juris doctor degree at this time in my life. Although the journey has not been easy, it has been one of the best educational experiences I have ever undertaken. The instructors are very knowledgeable and are willing to share their experiences, which adds tremendous value to the learning experience. I have found that as long as I exercise discipline, dedication, and desire the instructors will do their part to make sure that I will get what is needed to be successful. This has been the best educational move that I have ever made. Jackie Russell
